Stop & Shop retiree, Elvis fan

NAUGATUCK – Fred E. "Poppy" Litke, 73, entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Complete Care at Glendale in Naugatuck. Fred was born in New Britain, on June 14, 1949, the son of the late Arthur and Mildred (Brown) Litke.

He was a graduate of Pulaski High School class of 1965. He worked as the grocery manager for Stop & Shop for many years until his retirement. Fred was a huge Elvis fan, loved the New York Giants, and would give the shirt off his back.

There are a few men on this earth that make the sacrifices Fred Litke was willing to make for his family. He sacrificed his time, energy, and freedom to always put his family first. Even in his final days he managed to bring his family together who have been apart for many years.

In the words of Elvis Presley "Truth is like the sun, you can shut it out for a time, but it ain't going away." The real truth, is that in this world we have men and Kings. Fred Litke was the true King.

He leaves his daughter, Karen LaVallee of Prospect, his loving grandchildren, Kristen LaVallee and Adam LaVallee and four great grandchildren, Liana, Kayla, Presley and Leander.

A funeral service will be 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 5 p.m. till the time of the service at the funeral home.
